Dr. Kamal Piyush, Dean of Faculty of Hotel & Tourism Management is a highly qualified and experienced professional having completed his Hotel Management from the Institute of Hotel Management, Pusa, New Delhi in 1975 and Specialized Hotel Management from Institute of Hotel Management, Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition, Dadar, Mumbai in 1976. He has also done Graduation in Commerce from Delhi University. He has done Diploma in Management from ICFAI University Hyderabad in 2004.
In 2011 he has also obtained Masters degree in Tourism Management from Madurai Kamraj University. He has attended various training programs, seminars and conferences in varied subjects relating to the Human Resources, Human Resource Development, Training and Skill Development & Hospitality Education Development. In 2010 Dr. Kamal Piyush was deputed for a Management Training Program with a group of Principals of the Institutes of Hotel Management at Administrative Staff College of India and international study tour of Malaysia Singapore and Thailand. As a part of this study tour he also attended an Executive Education Program at Nanyang University of Singapore on Emerging Challenges for Hospitality Business.
Dr. Kamal Piyush has worked as Director of Chandigarh College of Hospitality a division of Chandigarh Group of Colleges, ASMS, School of Tourism & Hospitality, IEC Institute of Hotel Management. He was also the founder Principal of Institute of Hotel Management, Catering Technology & Applied Nutrition, Bathinda, Punjab affiliated to National Council for Hotel Management & Catering Technology under Govt. of Punjab. He has been instrumental in promoting hospitality education by establishing departments of hospitality and tourism education in a few colleges and institute.
He has worked with the Ashok Group of Hotels, a division of India Tourism Development Corporation Limited in various positions for almost 30 years working and heading prestigious operations like Hyderabad House, state guest house and Prime Minister’s hospitality organization, Vigyan Bhawan, the international conference venue for the Govt. Besides this he had been the General Manager at various hotels and catering operations.
He has achieved distinction for his competent handling and improvement of properties, turning around the operations and financial outcomes in a number of units.
He had also worked as General Manager for the Nirula’s group of Hotels and Restaurants. This was the first Quick Service Restaurant chain of the country running 75 restaurants and two hotels. Dr. Kamal Piyush had been a trainer recognized by South Asian Integrated Tourism Human Resource Development Program supported by European Union in 1997.
He has been given certificate of Competence as a trainer by Indian Society of Training & Development under recognition of Hotel & Catering International Management Association in 1998. He has in the past attended and chaired a number of conferences on training, developments in teaching in the hospitality & tourism industry. Dr. Kamal Piyush has also authored a very successful book on skill development program for hospitality Industry
